The last three weeks have come full circle. I am now once again snuggled up in the same exact Motel 6 in Kearney, Nebraska with my now Colorado-loving, no-leash-wearing mountain dog. We drove seven hours today and left Vail around noon. It was an easy, sunny drive and I turned up Indigo Girls and sang my heart out for the first two hours driving out of the mountains. In my mind, there's no better music for a road trip or to celebrate what you have experienced or what you're about to do. I was sad leaving. I honestly don't think there is another place in the world where I feel more myself or more at home. The locals are friendly, the skiing is second-to-none and the sunshine is plentiful! But unless some fabulous job offer falls in my lap, I think I'll have to be content vacationing there at least once a winter.
Since my last post, Jayne from Denver came up to ski and live it up in the mountains with me. There was also NYE, one hell of a hangover, a great New Year's Day brunch, more romps at the dog park, more time with Dog Park Guy and another fabulous sushi dinner.
So I may not have posted a blog every day, but I hope you all enjoyed reading them nonetheless. Reality is right around the corner for me now. One ten-hour drive tomorrow and we'll be home and this will all be just another fabulous memory.
Gunther is now sprawled out on the bed; he's dreaming and whimpering, probably thinking about chasing dogs in his snow-filled non-leash dog park down the street in Vail. Guess it's time to think about winding down so we can get an early start tomorrow. Chances are, I'll dream about the mountains too.
